The RAB’s 1st annual picnic in and of itself was a success. Everyone who
came out enjoyed himself and/or herself. There was lovely weather, good company
and laughs galore. We did have fun!!!
I wish to take this time to thank the Picnic Committee - Debbie Surrett, Leoma
Lee, David Clifton, Donna Ogburn, Robbie Reago, Isreal Martinez, and Gale Morgan.
They put in many hours of work to get this off the ground. However, we ran into
other problems and had to restart the whole planning just two and a half weeks
before the picnic!! Hey, guess what? We did it!!! Thanks guys. I also wish to
thank Darrel Enable, Johnathan Tatum, Anita Dutcher for their help at the picnic.
Along with my son who helped in so many ways. I thank you one and all.
We had some great prizes – a Kings’ shirt, a Monarch’s shirt,
a gift card for $25.00 from Safeway’s, gift cards from Subway’s,
McDonald’s, Wal-Mart and Target. In my opinion, everyone there was a winner!
Shall we try this again next year!!!! We shall try to do it again and hopefully
more of you will join us.
We have posted meeting times for Committees on Google Calendars on the web.

the next one will begin in January.

15th of October.
If you live in the county, the final filing date for the commission position
is October 12, 2007.

Here are some resources to consider if you have disabilities or are hoping to accompany a person with disabilities on a fishing trip:
How many of us know how to properly display a flag, let alone understand all of the details of flag etiquette? Most people are not aware of flag etiquette at all. We do not realize that it is against the Code to wear the flag on an article of clothing or to print its image on anything disposable, such as paper plates, napkins and other picnic decorations.
One common myth is that the flag should be destroyed if it touches the ground. While you should avoid having the flag touch the ground at any particular time, there is no reason to destroy it. Instead, clean it as soon as possible by hand and let it dry before hanging it up for display again.
Some people like to display flags 24 hours a day, year round. Flag etiquette states that the flag should be properly illuminated at night and taken in during foul weather. Display and handling on certain days, like federal holidays and the birthdays of presidents, are especially important.
Flag etiquette common to all countries includes the following:
- An upside down flag is a distress signal
- No flag should ever touch the ground
- No flag should be allowed to be torn, soiled or otherwise damaged in any way
- No marks such as logos, insignias, letters, words, designs, or figures should
be attached to the flag
- A country’s flag, when hoisted with other flags, should always be hoisted
first and taken down last
- Multiple flags consisting of various nations should always fly at the same
level in a time of peace

September arrived and we knew that the picnic was just around the corner. There
were still many things to do in the last four weeks. The fervor picked up as
the committee began to tie up the loose ends. Then as happens with all volunteer
teams, a person left the committee, and they left no information as to where
we were getting some items.
Carol and Debbie redoubled their efforts, and I got more driving assignments.
We realized that there was no way to get everything to the picnic without renting
a truck. After a few calls we had a fourteen foot U-Haul truck reserved. We
have a week until the picnic. Everything is double checked. Venders are paid,
hard goods accounted for, times set.
Thursday we pick up sodas, chips, charcoal, buns, water, condiments and onions.
We put every thing in the office.
Friday we got the truck, picked up the grills and loaded the non refrigerated
items. While I was out with the truck Carol and Debbie cut the onions.
Saturday we started at 8:00 and were ready for everyone by 10:00
At 3:00 we reversed the process, but; with a lighter load. We all were tired
but we had fun!
